This nine-story transit-oriented development will bring 105 market-rate apartments plus ground-floor retail to Worcester’s Canal Park. The transitional site represents an edge condition connecting the urban, walkable neighborhood to the area’s major roads. The building’s scale and massing responds to its unique location, stepping down from nine to seven stories to meet the context of the area. A widened sidewalk creates a pocket park, further improving the pedestrian experience.
The project is pursuing mass timber construction, using cross laminated timber columns, beams, and planks to create a sustainable building structure that sequesters carbon while allowing the warmth of the wood to be exposed. This fully electric building also features a PV array on the roof and EV charging stations.
