As one of a chain of cities along the Merrimack River that played a strong role in the nation’s early industrial revolution, Lawrence MA contains a dense stock of hyper-scaled masonry factory buildings. Among the largest of the city’s complexes, Everett Mills dates to the early 1900’s and played a role in the burgeoning textile industry of its time. The main building forms a 6-story, 800-ft long backdrop to the historic downtown district.

RODE was brought on to help form new interventions that will re-establish this building's presence in the city. Thoughtful site planning and re-positioning major entry points enabled new connections into the building's core.
