Construction Updates at 247 Hancock

Construction progresses at 247 Hancock! The completion of podium steel marks a significant milestone, as it allows for wood framing to rapidly advance, now reaching up to Level 4. Haycon is preparing to pour the slab on grade shortly and anticipates being weathertight by July 10th.

Developed by ARX Urban and constructed by Haycon Inc., 247 Hancock Street will bring 47 units of mixed-income housing to Dorchester in 2027. The project received BPDA and MOH approval, as well as PHIUS Design Certification. 

Another significant milestone is the exterior cladding mock-up, which received BPDA and MOH approval. In a smaller scale representation, the exterior cladding mock-up captures the project’s exterior finish palette. The façade design strategy integrates warmth, texture and depth with the use of metal and wood tones. RODE selected a warm bronze corrugated cladding on the main façade that adds richness and complements the beige and wood accent tones.

As construction continues, the mock-up will continue to be used to communicate the design intent and emphasize the approach towards the project’s exterior cladding details.
