Description
Located on the banks of the Mascoma River in downtown Lebanon, NH, the Lebanon Woolen Mills will include 196 residential units across five buildings. RODE’s design includes the adaptive reuse of two buildings historically used as a woolen mill and, most recently, as a commercial laundry facility and the addition of three new buildings utilizing natural facade materials: a modern brick building along the river referencing the timeless industrial typology, and two residential scaled wood sided buildings with sculptural roof forms on Mechanic street. A central outdoor mill yard unites the development; creating a public pedestrian amenity connecting to the community to the river with local plantings and an industrial material palette that celebrates the site’s history.
The Lebanon Woolen Mills site features a direct connection to regional recreation trails and two major public transit routes, and is in close proximity to Lebanon’s town green. The development will create a bustling, high-density residential area that supports Lebanon’s vision of a vibrant, lively downtown year-round.
